Will Brown has become the first Supercars Driver to win two, and back-to-back, Larry Perkins Trophies at the Australian Grand Prix.

Race 4 - P2

Taking off from P2 on late Thursday afternoon, the team was concerned with protecting the heated tyres with the high speed and Brown became a part of a precessional race and ultimately crossed the line in the same spot he began.

Race 5 - P3

On Friday morning, Brown took off for the second race at the AusGP in P5, but a great jump off the line sat him in P3 by the second corner. The race was interrupted heavily by multiple Safety Cars and Brown didn’t have the speed to take a dive at the leaders but claimed another podium, adding to his tally for the weekend in pursuit of the Larry Perkins Trophy.

Race 6 - P1

In another Safety Car heavy Race, Brown managed to get the jump off the start from P2 on teammate Broc Feeney but noted it was a tight one to claim the lead. Once Brown was in front he held the race lead for the full race despite the field being brought back together and race restarted multiple times.

Race 7 - Cancelled

After a wet weather downpour on Sunday morning and two laps under Safety Car, Race Control declared that Race 7 would not be resumed and no points will be awarded. As a result of leading the tally for the Larry Perkins Trophy heading into today’s race, Will became the first driver to win the Trophy back to back.

“I didn’t think the race would get cancelled. I thought “this is great, it’ll give me more of an opportunity to pass more cars.” And that’s what I was thinking, but then it turned out that it actually helped me in a different way. I think we’ve really picked up where we left off last year. Consistency. We’re trying to win races. We need to keep that going and get the wins when we can. But keeping the consistency and trying to win the Sprint Cup at the end of the day is our goal. Then that gets you hopefully gets you a lot further up the front with some extra points to try and make it through to the Finals.”

Round 3 of the Supercars Championship will be held on April 11-13 at the Taupo Super 440.
